Explore the Land of Fire and Ice on this Golf and Spa Adventure in Iceland
EXPERIENCE OVERVIEW
Equal parts adventure and relaxation, this trip to beautiful—and unique—Iceland gives you the opportunity to see some of the country’s most amazing natural wonders, play some of the best golf courses in the world, and rejuvenate at the iconic Blue Lagoon Spa, complete with a soak in geothermal seawater.
The vacation begins in the capital city of Reykjavik and a three-night stay at the Reykjavik EDITION hotel. Billing itself as a “destination within a destination,” the hotel brings a 5-star modern luxury experience to the scenic, historical heart of this world-class city. Sophisticated guest rooms, a variety of amenities, such as an onsite spa and relaxation bar, and close proximity to Reykjavik’s vibrant shopping district, are just a few of the things you’ll enjoy during your stay.
While here, you’ll play a round of golf at the premiere, Grafarholtsvöllur Golf Course, designed by Nils Skjöld. Using the area’s existing rugged and varied landscape as inspiration, each of the course’s challenging 18 holes offers magnificent views—with fairways lined with lush evergreens, lava, and heather—for a unique golfing experience.
You’ll also enjoy a golf outing of a lifetime with a morning at the renowned Brautarholt Golf Course. Set on the sea, 30-minutes from Reykjavik, this dramatic 12-hole course features breathtaking views across the water to the city itself, craggy cliffs, and a challenging lava field on the front nine. Once you’ve played the course, you’ll understand why it’s been named one of the best in the world.
After a few days in Reykjavik, you’ll travel along Iceland’s scenic Golden Circle to Thingvellir National Park, where you’ll explore the country’s largest natural lake, lava formations, crevasses, rivers, and waterfalls with a private guide. Next, you’ll head to the Haukadalur Valley to see the famous Geysir (from which all other geysers got their name). Then on to Langjökull Glacier for an adrenaline-pumping experience of this vast, icy terrain on a guided snowmobile tour. Finally, you’ll arrive at the impressive Skálakot Manor Hotel for a two-night stay.
This modern country hotel features chic, deluxe rooms, mountain and ocean views, impeccable service, and a variety of outdoor experiences, including hikes and horseback riding. It’s the perfect place to rest and relax after days out adventuring in the Southern Iceland landscape.
While at Skálakot, you’ll take a ferry ride to the Vestmannaeyjar archipelago (also known as the Westman Islands), where you’ll cruise the waters around the islands and the area’s geological rock stacks, exploring remote sea caves and viewing wildlife (such as puffins and beluga whales) in their natural habitats.
You’ll also spend the afternoon playing a round of golf in Vestmannaeyjar at the Westman Islands Golf Course, considered one of the best golf experiences in Europe. This 18-hole, par 70 course, set in a valley next to an extinct volcano, features unique terrain, challenging holes, and even more incredible Icelandic views.
The next day, you’ll tour the magnificent south coast region on a full-day, guided journey as you make your way back to Reykjavik. Visit a charming village next to the black sands of Reynisfjara, view two of Iceland’s most famous waterfalls, enjoy a private glacier walk across dramatic terrain, and head out across black lava sands on a private ATV excursion; all before continuing on to the capital city.
Back in downtown Reykjavik, you’ll enjoy two more nights at the Reykjavic EDITION hotel and explore the city on a private, guided tour. You’ll learn about Reykjavic’s history and culture, visit its most popular (and some not-so-well-known) sites, and discover why it’s called the “Biggest Little City in the World.”
After saying goodbye to Reykjavic again, you’ll travel to the iconic Blue Lagoon and its 5-star Retreat Hotel. You’ll wrap up your Icelandic adventure with a night at this exclusive spa resort, carved into the rock of an 800-year-old lava flow. Spend the day soaking in the geothermal seawater, book a massage or mineral treatment, or unwind in your spacious room—designed for serenity and comfort with unbelievable views and simple luxurious furnishings. Onsite communal areas offer additional spaces to relax, and the Retreat’s four restaurants (including the Michelin-recommended Moss) serve incredible cuisine in chic, modern dining rooms, making your stay here even more special.
From city and countryside to glaciers and spa, this incredible golf and wonders trip to Iceland will be a vacation you’ll never forget.
